SLIPKNOT have set July 24th as the release date for their second Roadrunner Records album, rumored to be titled Iowa. The follow-up to the group's 1999 eponymously-titled debut was recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles with producer Ross Robinson and will be mixed starting next week in New York City with veteran producer Andy Wallace.

According to various people who have heard parts of the album's rough mixes, a good portion of the material that is set to be included on the CD will be of the over-the-top, ultra-manic nature, with plenty of hyper-fast, “blast” beats and “MORBID ANGEL-like” death metal-style riffing. However, there will also be several musical pieces that cover a similar musical ground to the catchier, hookier songs off the last album, such as “Wait And Bleed” and “Spit It Out”, while the rest is said to follow a more “experimental” direction, albeit done in the usual SLIPKNOT uncompromising style. In particular, the song “People=Shit” is said to be an absolute monster of a track, with its title being repeated over and over again in many different ways, over a variety of riffs, in what is certain to become one of the album's musical highlights.

These are the only known song titles so far:
...
“People=Shit”
“The Heretic Song”
“Disaster Piece”
“New Abortion”
